Ayudha Pooja

The final or ninth day of the Shukla Paksha of the Aashvayuja month is “Mahanavami”, and is celebrated as Ayudha Pooja. This year, it falls on the October 22nd. It is popular only in South India mainly in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. Ayudha Pooja is also known as Shastra Pooja and Astra Pooja. In South India, most calendars mark Saraswathi pooja along with Ayudha Pooja. However, according to most Dharma Shastra, Saraswathi Pooja during Navaratri is suggested during Purvashadha Nakshatra.
